for flu - animal rights speech

I would like to talk to you about an issue that has been growing in our society, hidden from the public eye and usually ignored. Animals are mistreated, beaten and killed everyday, some for consuption, others because of their owners’ negligence and apathy. Today, cruelty to animals can be witnessed almost anywhere: they are whipped, burnt, chained, their bodies are broken and their throats are slit. All with no remorse and without compassion.
Countless tales of animals’ loyalty and sacrifice have been heard around the world, from the dog that rescues his owner from a fire to the birds that sensed an upcoming earthquake. But we seldom thank the animals who bring us happiness everyday, our dogs who always seem happy to see us, our cats who purr on our laps.
The human race has been described as more intelligent and civilized than animals, yet they treat their own kind with more violence than has ever been witnessed between animals of the same species. Humans believe that animals cannot feel, neither love nor pain; they think that ripping and stealing the fur off a fox while the latter still lives is acceptable, they treat animals as brainless slaves -but do they know that a pig is smarter than a 3 year old child? Do they know animals sense fear and feel pain as much as we do?
Ghandi once said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”so what kind of image is our world/ giving? Shouldn’t we know better than hurting defenseless animals?
This unfair treatment has to end, and it can start with you, right now. Animals are extraordinary creatures, sensitive and intelligent and it would be a shame to neglect such blessings.

no problem! :]

go bent!  vegan for life right here :) animals are so amazing - i can no longer imagine unnecessarily taking one's life to sustain my own.

u should def volunteer at a shelter or something...i could see you diggin that a lot!

been veg for 4 yrs and vegan since january - for those of u who haven't tried it you have no idea what your body is capable of when you eliminate to energy intense activity of digesting rotting flesh.  :)  a simple experiment turned into a life decision because it just made sense.
